Why the stamp feels nostalgic
Older cameras often made date and time visible in the image itself. The detail turned a photograph into a tiny record: not just who was there, but when the moment supposedly happened. That extra layer is part of the emotional memory of early digital photography.
On a modern edit, the stamp is a visual treatment. Unless you have verified the original capture data, it should not be presented as accurate metadata.
Choose placement with the composition
Corners are traditional, but not every corner is empty. Place the stamp over a quiet area with enough contrast for it to remain legible. On a busy image, reduce the size or the intensity instead of forcing it into the foreground.
Warm orange text often works against cool shadows, while a faint dark shadow keeps it readable on a bright background.
Try it in the editor
Open the Date Stamp tool, upload your image and keep the stamp toggle on while you compare the result. If the date dominates the frame, choose a lower effect intensity or return to the original ratio before exporting.
A timestamp is most effective when it feels like a small discovery, not the headline of the image.
